IBM Certified Database Administrator -- DB2 Universal Database V8.1 for zOS


Job Role Description / Target Audience

The IBM Certified Database Administrator is the lead database administrator (DBA) for the DB2 UDB Version 8.1 product for the z/OS operating system. This individual has significant experience as a DBA and extensive knowledge of the DB2 Universal Database, specifically the new features and functionality related to Version 8.1. This specialist is capable of performing the intermediate to advanced tasks related to database design and implementation, operation and recovery, security and auditing, performance, and installation and migration specific to the z/OS operating system. 

To attain the IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2 Universal Database V8.1 for z/OS certification, candidates must pass 2 tests or be certified as an IBM Certified Solutions Expert - DB2 Universal Database V7.1 Database Administration for UNIX, Windows and OS/2 and pass Test 702: 

  • Test 700, IBM DB2 UDB Version 8 Family Fundamentals
OR
Test 512, IBM DB2 UDB V7.1 Family Fundamentals 
  • Test 702, IBM DB2 UDB Version 8 for z/OS Database Administration 


Recommended Prerequisite Skills

  • Experience as a database administrator on DB2 UDB Version 8 for z/OS 
  • At least two years experience in database administration for the z/OS operating system 
  • Some knowledge and experience in both the application DBA and system programming DBA areas 
  • Knowledge of major programming languages (such as COBOL, Java, and C++) 
  • Capability to work independently and effectively in complex environments

This certification requires 2 test(s).

Test(s):

  1. Any 1 of the following tests:
    1. Test 700 - DB2 V8.1 Family Fundamentals
    2. Test 512 - DB2 V7.1 Family Fundamentals
  2. Test 702 - DB2 UDB V8.1 for z/OS Database Administration


Note: If you have obtained a certification from a qualifying IBM Informix System Administration certification, it is not necessary for you to complete exam 700. Qualifying IBM Informix System Administration certifications include IBM Certified Solutions Expert - Informix Dynamic Server V9 System Administrator, IBM Certified Solutions Expert - Informix Dynamic Server V7 System Administrator, IBM Certified Solutions Expert - Red Brick Warehouse V6 System Administrator.
