Job Role Description / Target Audience

The IBM Certified Systems Expert - Virtualization Technical Support for AIX and Linux provides technical support for IBM Virtualization technologies.  This Certified Systems Expert provides technical expertise to internal or external customers in the design, implementation and management of virtualized environments, including AIX, Linux, and IBM i.  The successful candidate can plan a virtualized environment from the beginning stages, through installation and on-going support.  They are skilled in various implementation and migration tasks, and determining which environments are suitable for migration and are aware of software licensing requirements related to a virtualized environment. 


Recommended Prerequisite Skills

  • 6-12 months planning, designing, and implementing IBM Virtualization technologies, focusing on AIX and Linux.
  • Experience managing and administering virtualized environments on POWER5 and POWER6 hardware.
  • Completion of recommended education
  • Earn prerequisite System Administration (test #223) and Enterprise Technical Support (test #100) certifications.
