The Power Systems Technical Support specialist seeks solution requirements, accompanies sales staff on client calls, addresses technical questions, designs solutions according to the requirements received, and can perform installation and support activities at a high level. This specialist has a strong understanding of current technologies and can accurately position it relative to previous IBM versions as well as competitive technologies, and engages expert-level resources when appropriate.

- 1-2 years in the product line, with general knowledge of the product line from POWER5 forward. Good knowledge of positioning and paths into POWER6.
- Familiarity with the Solutions Assurance process and when it's recommended or required.
- Familiarity with planning processes, project scoping, and tools used to size and support a system
- Familiarity with IBM support resources
- Familiarity with IBM Power Systems, Storage and BladeCenter solutions
- Familiarity with competitive platforms and solutions
- Familiarity with available operating systems, databases and application products
- Familiarity with warranty, SWMA, and other maintenance options and processes
- Some hands-on implementation skills
