IBM Certified Systems Expert -- eServer p5 and pSeries Enterprise Technical Support AIX 5L V5.3


Job Role Description / Target Audience

This certification validates the skills required to plan, to install, to configure and to manage IBM  p5 and pSeries Enterprise systems. In addition, the candidate should be able to perform the administrative and diagnostic activities needed to support logical partitions. This certification is applicable to specialists who implement and support complex partitioned POWER4 and POWER5 environments. 

The Enterprise Technical Support  certification is being updated during 2008.  The first new qualifying required test is 223 System p Administrator.  This certification replaces test 222 (now withdrawn).  Either 222 or 223 will apply for this certification.  The existing or new electives published in 2008 must be used to complete this certification in 2008.  The new identified electives will also count toward the new Enterprise Technical Support to be announced in 2008.


Recommended Prerequisite Skills



  • Minimum of six months experience in implementing or supporting Enterprise systems 
  • Both Test 180 and Test 222 are required for IBM Certified Systems Expert -  p5 and pSeries Enterprise Technical Support AIX 5L V5.3

    1. 222 - p5 and pSeries Administration and Support AIX 5L V5.3
    2. Test 223 - System p Administrator
  2. Test 180 - p5 and pSeries Enterprise Technical Support AIX 5L V5.3
