IBM eServer Certified Systems Expert -- pSeries HACMP for AIX 5L


Job Role Description / Target Audience

The IBM  Certified Systems Expert in pSeries HACMP for AIX 5L performs HACMP sales or sales support, which serves as the foundation for all other work. Additionally, this individual plans and implements, as well as configures, administers, and maintains HACMP. The expert in this role is able to: 

  • evaluate a business for the applicability of HACMP, 
  • determine the requirements for an HACMP installation, 
  • plan an installation, including conducting planning sessions, 
  • install a system, 
  • configure HACMP systems, and 
  • provide administrative and diagnostic training in an HACMP environment

The HACMP  certification is being updated during 2008.  The first new qualifying required test is 223 System p Administrator.  This certification replaces test 222 (now withdrawn).  Either 222 or 223 will apply for this certification.  The existing or new electives published in 2008 must be used to complete this certification in 2008.  The new identified electives will also count toward the new HACMP certification to be announced in 2008.


Recommended Prerequisite Skills



  • 3-6 years experience with HACMP 
  • Extensive AIX and pSeries experience

    3. Test 223 - System p Administrator
