Rationale
Some users have difficulty reading or responding to information if it is displayed briefly or requires a quick response time. The device needs to alert the user before the time expires so that they can indicate if more time is needed to complete the activity.
Required development techniques
Use one or more of the following techniques to meet Checkpoint 5.1 from the IBM Hardware Self Contained, Closed Products Accessibility Checklist:
- Provide an option which enables users to allow timed instructions to persist.
- Provide an alert to notify users that the time is about to expire and allow them to indicate that more time is required.
- Do not have timed responses for important messages. Display the message until the user closes it.
Required test techniques
Test the hardware to ensure that it complies with accessibility requirements.
