Avoid the use of animated tables.

Applicable user interfaces
This checkpoint only applies to Lotus Notes applications viewed through the Notes client.
Note: Applications that support both the Notes client interface and the Web interface must complete both the Web checklist and the Lotus Notes checklist.
Rationale
Notes provides the ability to create animated tables which display a different row, replacing the previous row, every 2 seconds. Users with cognitive or visual disabilities may be unable to read moving text in the table quickly enough. Sometimes, screen readers cannot read the text in the animated table, so someone who is blind will miss the information entirely.
Some flashing or flickering elements could be dangerous to users. Flickering or flashing with a frequency greater than 2 Hz or lower than 55 Hz can trigger a seizure in people with photosensitive epilepsy.
Required development techniques
The following technique is the minimum required to meet Checkpoint 5.4 from the Lotus Notes Application Accessibility Checklist:
- Do not enable the option "Switch row every x milliseconds" in the Table Properties box. Rather than having a table that switches rows automatically, allow the user to select the next row to be displayed.
Required test techniques
Test the application to ensure that it complies with accessibility requirements.
Tools
No test tools are required to test this checkpoint.
