Developer guidelines for 7.0 Java development tool designers

7.0 Java development tool designers

Powerful tools for building Java applications, including next-generation tools, are featured on the IBM Developer Works Java technology zone at Developers' tools website: http://www.ibm.com/developer/java.

Guidelines are under development for tool designers for a later release of this document that will better facilitate and perhaps automate some of the building of accessible Java applications.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has released the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG). This specification provides guidelines for Web authoring tool developers. It's purpose is to both assist developers in designing authoring tools that produce accessible Web content and to assist developers in creating an accessible tool user interface. If you are developing a Java application that creates Web content, you should follow the ATAG as well as these guidelines in developing it.
