Free download of Home Page Reader Technology

« Fully functional assistive technology software and unlimited number of downloads. »

(*) IBM Home Page Reader Limited Edition is a fully functional version, but the end user can only use it on registered web sites made accessible by IBM. This version is available on Windows© platforms in the following languages: english, french, german, italian and spanish.

In order to have a universally accessible web site, you need at least two prerequisites:

  • A web site that has been designed with usability and accessibility in mind
  • A technology tool to access and interact with the site

Most of the time and for the majority of visitors, a regular browser would be sufficient if the design of the site is useable.

But when it comes to special needs, either caused by your environment limitations or by your personal ability to access the information, due to ageing or disability, you need a more specific browser.

Bearing in mind that 14.5% of the Euro 15 population suffer from some disability and considering that elderly people represent a growing 16% of the EU population, it's essential to address the needs of those potential clients.

« Today, elderly people represent 16% of the total population or 24% of what is considered to be the working age population (15-64 year olds). By 2010, the latter ratio is expected to rise to 27%*.»
