As a part of IBM Research, the Human Ability and Accessibility Center can bring world-class expertise and technology to customers around the globe. Our work across many disciplines is often done in concert with our colleagues in academic and government research centers, as well as "in the marketplace" with clients who provide us with challenging research problems. Listed below are cutting-edge technologies that IBM can implement in your business or organization to help make your Web sites and information more accessible.
aDesigner
The aDesigner tool is a disability simulator that provides a visual representation and reports, based on selected criteria, of how accessible and usable Web pages are for people who are visually impaired. Voice browsers and screen readers that read aloud the text on Web pages for people who are visually impaired, are often less effective with certain kinds of content, such as highly graphical material. aDesigner can be a valuable tool to test the accessibility and ease of use of Web pages for people who are blind or low vision.
EasyWeb Browsing
Easy Web Browsing can help in solving the digital divide problem when a Web site delivers information and services to people with low vision or novice users. It provides a user-friendly Web interface including character enlarging, reading of text aloud and optimization of Web pages by changing font sizes and background colors according to user preferences. Easy Web Browsing can help government agencies, organizations and businesses who want to improve Web access for citizens or customers.
WebAdapt2Me
IBM WebAdapt2Me technology is designed to make the Web easier to use. WebAdapt2Me is software that enables people who have vision, cognitive or hand limitations to customize the way Web pages are presented to them. It can help government agencies, organizations and businesses who want to improve Web access for employees, citizens or customers.
