Overview
The IBM Lotus Learning Management System (LMS) is an integrated, standards-based portfolio of e-learning components, comprehensive and nimble enough to support the complete set of classroom and online learning activities and resources, for both a small department or a global enterprise. The product's architecture provides a scalable, flexible platform that can help streamline the administration of an organization's training programs, assets, curricula, and courseware catalogs.
- Students can search for courses from an on-line catalog and self-enroll in those they are interested in or that meet their certification requirements.
- Subject matter experts (SMEs) can use the powerful Authoring Tool to create courses on their own, with no programming skills required.
- Instructors can choose from a variety of learning approaches to deliver course materials.
- Training Managers can manage the logistics of an organization's entire training program from their desktop, avoiding scheduling conflicts, providing reports on student results and resource usage, and designing curriculums that help meet the training needs of various student populations.
Accessibility: Section 508 Compliant
The LMS provides accessible software in compliance with Section 508. Features representing compliance include:
- The user can navigate anywhere in the LMS via the keyboard
- Browser settings for larger fonts are respected for low vision users
- The LMS is accessible via screen readers, for example JAWS
- Useable without style sheets, allowing the user to override the colors with browser settings
The LMS also includes a feature allowing an administrator to provide unique color and font settings, called Customization Sets, and to assign the sets to specific users. This feature helps provides an even greater flexibility for accessible use.
